Oh, Man on the Overpass Cloaked in black, face sunken in your hood Eyes shielded by your brim, cigarette dangling from your fingertips You are a specter, a shadow behind the chain link fence I have a question I must ask: By what devices Do you find yourself gazing onto the highway? Is your soul in tatters, torn apart by loss? Is it a tremendous heartbreak that brings you to this precipe? Or perhaps it is a more subtle sadness A dull depression A funeral for the gutter your life is in Maybe it is a little more wistful Perhaps you are recalling your childhood with distant longing Or even reliving ancient memories in that very spot Yet, this all may not be so And you are not there by melancholy But by malice Are you a delinquent, poised to spit on the buzzing cars beneath? "Tonight, we have more information on the tragic accident of the luxury boat that was believed to be owned by Jay Tilly. The boat, which was marooned off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula on a small island, was discovered yesterday by another ship and reported to authorities." "The remains have indeed been identified as Jay Tilly. In shallow graves on the island were some of the bodies of what is presumed to be his entourage, which appeared to have been buried about a month or so prior." Doctor Smith has requested that I tell my story as part of my rehabilitation. I couldn't find myself able to speak it, so, he had me write it down instead. I have chosen this diary form as it is able to most easily draw out my memories without breaking me down into a nervous mess. I've decided to record the events in such a manner as to mark out the dates in a journal manner, but it must be noted that although dates will be within fair accuracy they will not be perfect and I of course cannot remember many details. However, such is the impact of the events that I can vividly recall almost the entirety. It should also be stated that though I am now relieved of duty, at the time I was serving in the United States Army with the 24th Mountain Brigade at Fort Worthington.
